New running trainers from Northern Runner will they make a difference
I’ve been back running now for a few weeks. Admittedly it has been on a treadmill, but I’m worried that my knees will give out too soon on the concrete!
To help me I splashed out on a new pair of running shoes this last bank holiday Monday. The excellent chaps at the Northern Runner shop in Newcastle analysed my running/walking style. Apperently I’m a neutral style runner, so I was given a choice of 5 different types of sneaks!!
2 different Brooks trainers, 1 pair of New Balance, 1 pair of Saucony and 1 pair of Mizuno.
After trying them all on, then running in all of them in the back corridor. Then running with different shoes on each feet, I came to a decision.
I realised I couldn’t tell the difference between any of them. So how did I choose?
Well, I discounted one of the Brooks beacuse I thought the first I tried on were a little more comfy! The Saucony pair were really good, but had minor damage to the side, so they were out.
So I was left with a choice of 3 - the Brooks, the New Balance and the Mizuno.
The ones I eventually chose were the New Balance 758 NBx Neutral Cushion pair in a very fetching Silver, Black and Red number. The reason was. They were made in Britain, the others were made in China.
Noble? Maybe, is it the sensible option though? Only time will tell for me.
